STUDENT SUPPORT INITIATIVES

• Conducted a calling campaign that contacted students who had stopped attending EFSC to address individual barriers and support student ’ s efforts toward degree completion .
• Nearly 5,000 students were contacted , many of whom have since re-enrolled or plan to restart in the spring . One student , who has not attended in 18 years , re-enrolled because of the call .
• A new Targeted Case Management system reached students who were at risk academically , creating a plan to get them back on track .
• There were more than 1,000 face-to-face meetings , nearly double from 2021 , along with about 9,700 virtual and phone contacts with students , faculty , and staff .
• The Accessibility-Disability Office hosted the first virtual open house series for Brevard Public School faculty and guidance counselors to help them assist special needs students navigate the transition to EFSC .
• Teamed with EFSC Veteran Services to host a PTSD awareness event that reached about 100 EFSC students , faculty , and staff with information about PTSD support organizations .
• Academic Success Center tutors conducted 394 classroom visits , reaching about 5,100 students to increase awareness of services through the Academic Success Centers and Writing Centers .
• Student advising teams were expanded to provide support on all four campuses , conducting more than 1,100 student coaching sessions and helping 130 students get off academic probation .

HELPING PROPEL ARTEMIS 1

EFSC graduates and students played a role in NASA ’ s successful first flight of its Space Launch System rocket and Orion crew capsule .
• The Orion spacecraft is built by Lockheed Martin at Kennedy Space Center , with apprentices from EFSC ’ s Aerospace Technology program involved .
• The students performed hands-on work , providing Lockheed Martin an important source of new workers for the project .
• Since the EFSC-Lockheed Martin partnership began in 2016 , 46 students have served apprenticeships with 43 hired upon graduation .
• The apprenticeship program has gained statewide recognition as a model for how Florida state colleges can drive high-tech workforce development .
