ALL-FLORIDA ACADEMIC TEAM
Six Eastern Florida State College students were named to the 2021 All- Florida Academic Team for their outstanding scholarship and work in the community .
• The All-Florida Academic Team consists of 137 students from the 28-member Florida College System that includes Eastern Florida .
• The students were nominated by their colleges and selected based on high achievement in the classroom , leadership on campus and service to the community .
• The students chosen include a mother and daughter from the Palm Bay campus .
• Regina Dutcher is a former high school teacher who is on track to transition into an elementary school teacher . Her daughter Robin graduated in May with a Chemical Technology Associate in Science Degree and then began an EFSC Bachelor of Applied Science program .
• Here are details on all the students and their areas of study :
• Regina Dutcher : Palm Bay Campus , Associate in Science Degree , Early Childhood Education and Educator Preparation Institute ( EPI ).
• Robin Dutcher : Palm Bay Campus , Bachelor of Applied Science Degree , Applied Health Sciences - Biomedical Science Specialization .
• Devargh Harris : Cocoa Campus , Associate in Science Degree , Aerospace Technology
• Nordia Johnson : Palm Bay Campus , Associate in Arts Degree
• Angel Stone : Cocoa Campus , Associate in Science Degree , Digital TV- Media Production
• Shane Welsh : Melbourne Campus , Associate in Science Degree , Nursing RN
• The Florida awards are part of the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society .
ACCREDITATION WORK BEGINS
College officials began preparing for the important 2023 Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Accreditation review that is done every 10 years .
• Work started on a new three-year EFSC Strategic Plan that will include detailed goals and outcomes with launch set for July 2022 .
• Part of the Strategic Plan will be a new Quality Enhancement Plan that will focus on ways to improve student success .
• Continued to work on implementing Guided Pathways to help students choose a career , support them through their education and ensure they are learning .
• Departments began developing operational plans that highlight learning and support outside the classroom that contributes to the collegiate experience .
