December 2018 College Accomplishments
Meeting Disabled Requirements Successful Media Relations
We continued to meet new compliance rules for
the updated Rehabilitation Act of 1973 in a major
undertaking to ensure that students with disabilities
have access to all digital content. (Student Enrollment,
Diversity Initiatives, Employee Relations) Placed more than 800 stories on EFSC news and events
in Brevard County and Central Florida media outlets
throughout the year, elevating the college’s reputation
and brand. (Community Relations)
Highlights: • Digital and print outlets that covered the college
include Florida Today and floridatoday.com,
spacecoastdaily.com, Space Coast Business
magazine, Space Coast Living Magazine, Orlando
Sentinel, Hometown News and Everything Brevard.
• T V coverage included Orlando stations Channel
2, Channel 6, Channel 9, Fox News and News
Channel 13.
• Coverage of EFSC sports programs appeared in
news outlets throughout Florida and the U.S.
thanks to a strong performance by college teams
in the NJCAA.
• Broadcast and livestreamed more than 30 EFSC
athletic events to audiences across Brevard and
Central Florida, while also reaching viewers across
the U.S. and overseas.
• Hundreds of faculty and staff worked together to
report and monitor the accessibility of all online
courses, using an automated checker.
• About 85 percent of online courses and course
materials are now fully accessible.
• An exhaustive review resulted in more than
28,000 changes to the EFSC website to meet new
standards.
• Training continued for faculty and staff with
36 workshops and webinars about the new
requirements and new software to implement
them.
• In all, 358 faculty and staff went through the
training.
