M A Y- 2 01 7 Spring Graduation Record More than 2,000 students graduated in Spring Commencement with overflow crowds in two ceremonies at the King Center, including a record number of Bachelor’s Degree graduates. (Student Enrollment, Diversity Initiatives, Employee Relations, Financial Management, Trustee Relations, Community Awareness) Graduation Highlights: • Nearly 90 Bachelor Degree students graduated, our largest class since we began the 4-year programs. • Graduates included a father and two sons who earned their AS and AA degrees, showing the unique multi-generation reach of students the college serves. • The ceremonies were broadcast live on WEFS-TV, streamed live on the college’s website and covered with stories and social media posts and pictures, reaching a large local and regional audience. Service-Learning Accomplishments EFSC continued strengthening the Service-Learning program that gives students the chance to get involved in the community and help address real world problems. (Student Enrollment, Diversity Initiatives, Community Awareness) Service-Learning Highlights: • 3,200 students participated in the program in 2016-17, contributing 163,000 hours of community service. • 25 students were named prestigious Citizen Scholars, maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA and volunteering 300 or more volunteer hours. • Student Susan Slaton was named the 2017 Florida Campus Compact Newman Civic Fellows Award Recipient. •  The award is given to students for what the Compact calls their ability to inspire and mobilize others and tackle the root causes of social issues in their communities. • The Compact is a coalition of 1,110 colleges and universities who name about 200 students from across the U.S. annually as Newman Civic Fellows. • Associate Professor Susan Phillips received the 2017 Florida Campus Compact Community Engagement Educator Award. She was recognized for a range of work that includes infusing community involvement in her classes and starting innovative community-based programs for students. • Eastern Florida has one of the top Service Learning progra
