were selected to the 2017 All-Florida Academic Team
for their outstanding scholarship and work in the
community. (Student Enrollment, Diversity Initiatives)
Dedication Highlights:
• The institute is the centerpiece of the college’s
commitment to health care education, housing
12 programs through which students can earn
Bachelor’s Degrees, Associate’s Degrees and
College Certificates.
• The $20 million state-of-the-art building contains
specialized labs and training areas on par with the
best in the nation.
• Among the learning tools are human patient
simulators that provide students valuable hands-
on training in a real world environment.
• The impressive array of training areas include
rooms for Surgery, Nursing, Emergency Care,
Intensive Care, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy,
Sonography and more.
• About 460 students were enrolled in the institute
in 2017, a number that’s expected to grow as
more programs are added.
• The institute brings with it an economic boost for
the Brevard and regional economies.
• Students graduating annually from its new
programs are expected to contribute $6.3 million
a year into the economy in salaries and spending
power.
• Since the useful life of the institute is expected
to be more than 50 years, the estimated total
economic impact of the new and existing
programs will be more than $300 million during
the next five decades.
Team Highlights:
• The eight students are the most the college has
ever placed on the team, reflecting the quality of
education that students receive at EFSC.
• The All-Florida Academic Team consists of 127
students from the 28-member Florida College
System.
•
That makes the EFSC achievement even more
impressive considering there are more than
800,000 students in the Florida College System.
• Students are selected based on high achievement
in the classroom, leadership on campus and
service to the community.
• Two students were selected from each EFSC campus:
Titusville, Cocoa, Melbourne and Palm Bay.
