Foods not allowed: Sugar Cold drinks, fruit juices Bread Rice Pasta Potatoes Porridge Cereals High-energy fruit e.g. bananas Sweets All confectionary (cake, etc.) Desserts Artificial sweeteners Low-fat options Some of the evidence and sources of information are slightly questionable. Most versions of high-fat, protein and low-carbohydrate diets disregard all the other risks for obesity and chronic disease. These risks include unknown genetic variation, physical activity, smoking and excessive alcohol intake. My question is whether this is enough reason to put our children at a potentially greater risk than they are now. It reminds me of the old seat-belt argument. So much research into accidents has shown that it is safer to wear a seat-belt, yet you will find people who base their opinion of why it is safer NOT to wear a seat-belt on personal findings and cases they happen to know of.
