What is good about the paleo diet is that it encourages more vegetables and
cuts down on sugar and sodium. Following this diet will significantly reduce
intake of many less healthy processed foods. Obviously no alcohol for the
adults and if you are happy to forgo many of the wonderful foods the modern
world has made possible, you can achieve healthy eating and weight control;
but there is no evidence that this will be long term. Claims are: “Eating highfat food is not linked to heart disease or high cholesterol”, “Fats: the ones you
were told are healthy are unhealthy”, “Fruit is a problem because it is high in
carbohydrates and high in fructose. It’s a killer in sugar” and “This diet will
result in better weight loss, blood lipid and glucose levels”.
