Monument for the Victory

Marcel Pierre built an other sculpture, it is located in front of the church of La Ferté-Macé. This one is a monument for the victory of the First World War 1914-1918. It took the artist two years to build it . It shows four steps of the war : the first one is the mobilization of the soldiers (men were called by the French army to fight against Germany), the second is the beginning of the German invasion of France, the third step is the war and the last is the victory.

On the monument we can see an eagle, which is the symbol of France’s victory against Germany in 1918.

The monument was designed and inaugurated in 1928.

Memorial for the dead

There is a third and last monument in La Ferté-Macé which is the memorial for the dead. In 1921 the people of La Ferté Macé honoured the French soldiers dead during the fight.

The monument is in the cemetery of La Ferté-Macé.
