An economic engine for Athens-Clarke County and the state
I
n 2013, UGA was designated as an Innova on and Economic
Prosperity University by the Associa on of Public and Land‐
grant Universi es. UGA was one of only 16 universi es in the
na on to receive the inaugural designa on, which
acknowledges universi es working with public and private sector
partners in their states and regions to support economic
development through a variety of ac vi es, including innova on and
entrepreneurship, technology transfer, talent and workforce
development, and small business and community development.
Commitment to the Community
Whether through downtown revitaliza on, marine extension,
technology commercializa on, community‐based leadership, or
helping to start new small businesses, UGA has a responsibility to
help Georgia thrive.
More than 850 students and 200 faculty
from UGA have par cipated in the Archway
Partnership, which places a UGA
professional in a community to serve as a conduit between that
community and Georgia’s higher educa on resources. Now in 11
coun es, Archway marshals academic and service resources to
address cri cal needs, as defined by the community.
