ALAUNA MARABLE- SPORTS EDITOR
Alauna Marable, a Mass Communications / Journalism Honors Scholar from Detroit, Michigan is a passionate storyteller dedicated to sports journalism. Aside from serving as the sports editor at the Spartan Echo, she is Rhoden Fellow under ESPN’ s Andscape, where she has had the opportunity to attend the 2025 NBA Draft, multiple NFL training camps, and has done work with ESPN’ s First Take including making an appearance on the show. Her passion in sports media is to highlight the journeys of athletes and the impact of sports within the community.
MALIK DAVIS- ENTERTAINMENT & CAMPUS LIFE EDITOR
Malik Davis is a Senior majoring in Mass Communications and a passionate entertainment news Journalist. He has reported on major award shows including the Grammys, Oscars, and most recently the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Malik takes pride in telling stories that resonate with all audiences. In addition to his reporting, he is also a radio personality with Norfolk State University’ s Hot 91.1, where he continues to grow his voice in media and entertainment.
KANIYA LAWRENCE- SOCIAL MEDIA & LIFESTYLE EDITOR
Kaniya Lawrence is a senior mass communications and journalism major from Emporia, Virginia. She currently interns with Ollivier Community Circle, a nonprofit dedicated to mental health and wellness in the Tidewater area. As a member of the Robert C. Nussbaum Honors College, she has worked with the university’ s athletics department in sports marketing and contributed to digital marketing research for a firm in Norfolk, fueling her passion for a career in public relations and marketing.
TATYANA CANTY- PHOTO EDITOR
I ' m Tatyana Canty, a senior mass communication major who enjoys the pleasure of visual storytelling. I ' ve been the photo editor for the Spartan Echo for several years. I enjoy collaborating with another journalist to tell a story. With my bachelor ' s degree, I plan to advance my career in storytelling in the television industry.
AYANNA TILGHMAN- LAYOUT AND GRAPHIC DESIGN EDITOR
Ayanna Tilghman is a senior from Baltimore, Maryland, double-majoring in English and Mass Communications. She is passionate about supporting causes and companies that work toward a better future. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in writing and design through PR, UX design, or UX writing. Her goal is to elevate stories and brands that uplift the Black community and make a meaningful impact. One day, she also hopes to author a fantasy novel featuring minorities as main characters.
