ENroute Yearbook 2020-21

A Final Word from the University ENroute Lead

What a year ! With most of us having worked from home for the majority of the academic year , the commitments and achievements of Edinburgh Napier colleagues throughout this period have continued to impress , as recognised in the successes detailed in this 2020 – 21 ENroute Yearbook .
While the Covid pandemic , lockdown and working from home have presented many the challenges to us all personally and professionally , they have also presented opportunities for professional development , particularly in supporting students at distance and teaching and supporting learning online . I am delighted to say that many have excelled in this situation taking these challenges as opportunities developing their practice and support for students – as documented in several showcases in the preceding pages . What we have is a growing and developing competency in supporting learning and teaching online paralleled with a flourishing community of practice , partly represented in the revitalised Learning & Teaching Network . ENroute has been able to recognise such developments and innovations in colleagues ’ practice as they have worked to develop themselves for the benefit of their students and their learning , something that may be the start of a developing trend due to our present circumstances .

It has also been an extremely busy time for ENroute and DLTE with re-accreditation of ENroute with Advance HE and approval of our new Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching & Supporting Learning in Higher Education ( PgCert TSL ) which has now incorporated a dialogic assessment in learning from its success in ENroute .
Having also successfully piloted an intensive approach to recognition last year , I am very happy that our Focus on Fellowship programme has also been accredited by Advance HE and will continue going forward . This allows colleagues struggling to engage in ENroute with dedicated , concentrated time and support to develop and finalise their submission .
