EDGE Evolve Yearbook 2013 | Page 4

Headmasters Manny Moreira Edge Evolve C.E.O. (Headmaster) Our fourth and final term has come to an end, signalling the closure of another year! For the more superstitions among us, 2013 had all the potential of being a long and tough year both on and off the field. While predicted and planned for, the ‘off season’ experienced by many of our customers in the Telco industry caused much consternation across all the teams in the championship. As in years gone by, the class of 2013 pulled through with top colours, coming together when it counted most, showing how focus and dedication enables growth and success even when the odds are stacked up against you. Let’s take the time to highlight but a few of our star performances on the field: 1. Team Consulting, under the captaincy of Dave Sayer, knocked the opposition out of the park during Vodacom Championships. The Application Infrastructure Support event was a raving success with several 100% uptime scores. The Application Support event proved to be the best in years, resulting in renewed sponsorship for 2014. Well done to Corne, Val, and Johan on your team’s performances throughout the year! You made us proud. 2. Team DataAssist’s newly appointed management team of Frances Jordaan and Dawid Jansen Van Rensburg, lead the dev team to complete the first phase of the multifaceted stage 4 of the DataAssist marathon. A most impressive result. All the best with the next stages in 2014. We look forward to seeing you perform in the Nashua Challenge! 3. Officially the first year in the Data Management League, DataWave managed to position itself well for the Nedbank and Onderstepoort challenge in 2014. Coach Herman Badenhorst’s purchase of the specialist Data player, Edwin Anderson, during this season’s transfer window at MTN, could prove to be a very strategic move for 2014. Watch this space! 4. Team TouchPay, under the captaincy of Charles Leeming, has shown that a slow start to the season can prove to be a blessing for the end of the season. Scoring late goals against Momentum, ZIRODE, Africa Bank and Nedbank in the final stages of the season puts us in a strong position to win the Junior Payment Solution Cup! We look forward to the match against Protea Coin, as a win away from home will be the cherry on the cake.
