BLACKMAIL's return has caused an explosion of new fans and old fans are excited to see what the band has in store for them.
BLACKMAIL was together in the earlier days they were able to produce two albums, “Hot, Hard and Heavy”, and “Second Album”. The band is currently working on a new album, but has not given much information as to what this album will consist of or if it will include songs from their previous albums. The biggest factor besides the fans which brought the band back together can be attributed to Greg Shiley, owner of the venue known for its rock and roll, Shiley Acres. He gave Welch a call several years ago when he was thinking of reopening Shiley Acres which had been closed for many years and asked the band if they would be willing to do a comeback show in 2012 for the Grand reopening. After hearing from Shiley, Welch then texted drummer Levi, of Winchester. They then sought guitarist Whipkey, of Stephens City, and bassist Alger, of Winchester. Through Blackmail's first run, Alger had been succeeded by three other musicians, including Buddy Verloop, the band's bass player for 10 years. Alger as an original member, made Welch and Levi want to offer Alger first opportunity. He defied their expectations. "It's made for a great reunion for us, because of how people have accepted us," Welch said.
Now the band is going stronger than ever, and not only has regained their momentum on the east coast but has begun to gather a following on the west coast due to promotional opportunities being made available to them by a west coast based Entertainment Company.
Though BLACKMAIL had previously be unable to make it big, things appear to be different this time as they have a strong fan base . For BLACKMAIL, their time has come.
