The ACSA Board of Directors met May 11 to , among other items , incorporate input from Leadership Assembly into the ACSA Strategic Plan .

Gehry said seeing the strength and creativity of students in the program gives him hope for the future and fuels his own
inspiration .
“ Over the last 40 years , I ’ ve spent time with kids in the classroom using architecture and art to get them engaged , focus their attention , and even introduce mathematics , civics and other subjects that they might not have otherwise been receptive to ,” he said . “ This inspired me to partner with Malissa Shriver on Turnaround Arts : California in order to create the same opportunities for the California students who need it the most .”
Turnaround Arts : California , which will now reach schools serving more than 17,000 K-8 students from historically marginalized communities , has seen promising results in its existing partner schools :
• English language arts proficiency has increased at 70 percent of partner schools ,
by as much as 14 percent .
• Math proficiency has increased at more than 50 percent of partner schools , by as much as 15 percent .
• Arts-integrated instruction has increased student engagement , share 90 percent of surveyed teachers .
• Attendance is up and suspensions are down at more than 50 percent of partner schools .
• Arts-rich events have increased family engagement at 100 percent of partner schools .
“ We have the great privilege of partnering with these new , vibrant school communities statewide in using the arts to help students overcome obstacles and find their authentic voices as creators and scholars ,” Turnaround Arts : California President
Shriver said . “ We continue to believe that no achievement gaps exist where opportunity lives .”
On program acceptance , the district committed to ensuring that all students in the school will receive weekly , standards-based music , art and text-based arts integration , and that all teachers can attend trainings on how to use the arts to support student learning . The regional coach program Collaborations : Teachers and Artists will provide regular , in-person support for the school team in strategically using the arts for teacher training , family engagement , and student learning .

Leadership Coaching / CNET helps build school leaders

Coaching is a formal professional relationship between a credential candidate and a coach . The relationship is directed toward the attainment of professional goals and focused on leadership to positively impact learning and teaching . Coaching can lead to a change in practice of thinking and transform dispositions , behavior and communication . The goal of coaching is to build leadership capacity , increase instructional improvement and extend student learning .
Leadership coaches provide coaching services to administrators seeking to earn their Clear Administrative Services Credential . The new program standards from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing require new administrators to participate in a two-year job embedded induction program with 40 hours of support for each of the two years . ACSA provides an opportunity for educational leaders to participate in foundational leadership coach training as well as ongoing training to deepen coaching skills through a community of practice . ACSA Leadership Coaching emphasizes the application of adult learning , the importance of building trust and rapport , the value of being a good listener and the need to ask questions and provide feedback that promotes reflection and growth in new and experienced educational leaders . The leadership training provides valuable skills and experiences for your current position and future career advancement . What is Leadership Coaching ? Leadership Coaching is training for leadership coaches . This two-day foundational training in Evocative Coaching emphasizes strategies , skills and tools designed to prepare participants to provide intensive individualized support to school leaders with a special emphasis on new leaders enrolled in ACSA ’ s Clear Administrative Credential Program . The workshop is based on the current research of Bob and Megan Tschannen- Moran including the principles of Appreciative Inquiry . It is a prerequisite to ACSA ’ s Leadership Coach Certification and coaching in ACSA ’ s Clear Administrative Credential Program . Leadership Coach training is also an opportunity to learn coaching skills to use with experienced administrators .
What is CNET ? The California Network of Leadership Coaches ( CNET ) is an ongoing community of practice comprised of education leaders providing individualized coaching and support to beginning and experienced school administrators . The network is geared toward the certification of ACSA ’ s cadre of Leadership Coaches and to the continuous deepening and broadening of ACSA Leadership Coaching skills for leadership coaches not seeking certification . CNET training is required for all coaches coaching in ACSA ’ s Clear Administrative Credential Program .
Coaches are informed about current research , trends and policy issues . The training is delivered in two one-day segments , one day in the fall , one day in the spring , and is offered in nearly 20 locations throughout the state . ACSA Leadership Coaching Certification Leadership Coaches are needed for ACSA ’ s local programs that serve new administrators who are seeking to obtain their clear administrative services credential through the ACSA Clear Administrative Credential Program .
