The housing market was deeply affected by the 2009 recession. Home sales declined significantly from as high as 6,173 units in 2005 to 2,774 units in 2011. Home sales increased further to 3,565 during 2013. Table-13 shows the sales, inventory, average and median selling prices of homes sold in Montgomery during 2013 and 2014. Sales and inventories during 2014 are higher than the corresponding months in 2013. Montgomery sales for March 2014 totaled 321 units (274 existing and 47 new), representing an increase of 14 transactions when compared to the 307 (260 existing and 47 new) units that were sold in March 2013.
