The components that led to the decline are shown in Table-4. During 2013, while Montgomery, Autauga and Lowndes counties showed a decline in population, Elmore County had an increase in population. In contrast, Daphne-FairhopeFoley (+2.55%), Auburn-Opelika (+2.11%), Huntsville (+1.3%) and Tuscaloosa (+0.94%) had a population growth during 2013. 2 Montgomery metro was ranked 135th in the nation for the size of its current-dollar GDP. It was ranked 248th for its Real GDP growth during 2012.
