Alternative energy is the energy that you get from renewable sources. You can use it
to generate electricity, heat and cool water and air, and also for transportation. There
are a lot of them in nature. For example, renewable energy sources are the solar
energy, wind power, hydropower, geothermal heat, biomass that extracts methane
gas, ethanol and biodiesel, that can be used to run vehicle engines.
In Lithuania, some of these sources are also used to generate power. For example,
wind turbines, solar collectors are becoming popular too. There are hydropower
stations, and they are one of the biggest energy sources in Lithuania.
I think that reusable energy sources are much better than non-reusable sources.
Firstly, they do not have big impact on the environment, where they are used, and
they are safer than nuclear power stations. If nuclear power station explodes, a lot of
radioactive materials will be thrown into the environment, and very big area will be
left abandoned for a long time. Secondly, even if non-reusable energy station is
working correctly, oil will end one day, and we will have to destroy them. This will not
happen to reusable energy sources, because, for example, the sun will not stop
shinning, we will only have to change solar panels after their working period. But
there is one bad thing about reusable energy. For example, if hydropower station
fails, the water will flood and destroy the area around it, but water is not so
dangerous as radiation.
We should use renewable energy sources as much as we can, because one day
when we destroy the last non-reusable energy station, when there is no oil left in the
Earth. If oil keeps being our main energy source, we will face a dark future, because
the impact of this kind of pollution can ruin our planet. In conclusion, renewable
energy sources are the future of energy and power, so if we start using it now, our
impact on the environment will be greatly reduced.
