AMERICAN DREAM REALIZED THROUGH EB-5
The USCIS issued 1,381 visas to Indian investors in 2022 , the highest ever recorded , according to the U . S . Department of State . Indian nationals are the second largest group , after China , to pursue the EB-5 Immigrant Investor program . However , in the years since the EB-5 program was initially created , the program has been plagued by backlogs and long processing times .
Mr . Patel says when they first started their journey the time for getting a conditional green card from the date of submission of the I-526 petition was said to be approximately 18 to 22 months , but he says as time passed the timeframe stretched out much , much longer .
“ For us it took almost 36 to 48 months ,” says Mr . Patel . “ Hope that USCIS improves their infrastructure and reduces this timeframe as the very purpose of applying for the green card is defeated due to a change in circumstances surrounding the career path for which the whole exercise was supposedly initiated .”
Though the Patels ’ EB-5 journey took a lot longer than expected for both sons , the family is grateful that the EB-5 program brought them to their goal .

Both sons are now living in Los Angeles pursuing their dreams . Mr . Patel credits his immigration attorneys for guiding and helping them along the way . He says the Regional Center has since refunded the amount paid to his older son within the promised time frame .
