September marks the beginning of the transition from “Summer” to “Fall”, not that we have much of a fall season
here in Florida. Daylight drops to 12 hours on the autumnal equinox on September 22nd, which starts to limit
the number of holes we can squeeze in both early and late in the day.
The hurricane season peaks in September, so we all need to have plans in place should a storm approach our
area.
September brings the return of the MGA schedule, which took a hiatus in August, since the weather is usually
hot and humid, and we have lots of rain. We changed the date of the tournament scheduled in September from
the 19th to the 12th to accommodate another event, so make sure to sign up for the tournament which pits
players playing the same tee boxes (to the extent we can) against each other.
As we write this piece, the course has been repeatedly doused with thunderstorms, and cart-path only
restrictions have periodically been in place. Storms continue on into September, so let’s make sure we abide by
restrictions so we do not damage the course by riding carts in wet areas.
In the meantime, enjoy the last few weeks of the summer...we look forward to teeing it up with you all on
September 12th!
