L E T T E R F R O M T H E A S S I S TA N T G O L F P R O PRO TIP of the MONTH When it comes to putting there are many different theories on how to putt correctly. Some say speed is more important than other say line is more important. The question is are you able to start your putt consistently on your intended line first? Once you are able to start your ball on the intended line then speed control is everything! Depending on what speed you are going to putt determines which line you will take. For example, if you have a putt from a close distance that is breaking 3 inches you have two choices. One choice is to putt it straight and firm or your second choice is to play the break and putt it softer. When the ball is traveling faster the less break it will take and vice versa if the ball is traveling slower the more break it will take. There are a bunch of drills you can do to work on both line and speed control. I would like to congratulate Mike Jennison on his Hole-in-on. During one of our playing lessons in November, Mike holed out on #3 from 141 yards. CONGRATS! If you have any questions about drill speed or green reading feel free to stop by the pro shop for more information.
