LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
The golf course is in good shape heading into May . The Agronomy Team has been able to accomplish some small sod and landscape projects throughout the golf course . We still have more areas that I want to touch up and will continue working on them throughout the summer . I hope the membership can begin to visualize where I want to take the golf course and enjoy it for years to come .
The age of the greens requires consistent work this time of year . We will continue with our vertical mowing and topdressing program as the weather heats up . This is our dry time of year that we must keep the irrigation running . We are using wetting agents in our spray program to help the water penetrate the soil faster and various fertilizers high in potassium to help with heat stress . We will also irrigate more during the day at short intervals to help cool the greens down to prevent any hot spots in the heat of the afternoon from getting worse .
This is also the time of year that we do our best to keep the summer weed seeds from growing . We are currently rotating a few different preemergent herbicides to help set up for an easier summer with less weed pressure . Not all the weeds can be prevented but if we can eliminate at least half of them before they even start growing , it saves so much time and effort for other things we can improve . I hope everyone is enjoying the golf course and continues to see improvement month to month . My staff is very committed to improving playing conditions and the overall golf experience here at Eaglebrooke . I am blessed to have them , and together we will make this golf course one of the best in Florida .
