Saltwater drips down my face , Eyes like small glass orbs . Smoke fills my nostrils Along with the black sky . Another pillar of my life destroyed .
My brother was sent off , An ocean away in a foreign country . He was so young , barely an adult . Months later , a letter came home . My brother was returning . When he arrived , I gave him a hug That he was unable to return .
Then mother changed . She stopped talking , Daily visiting brother ’ s Small patch of grass , A slab of stone marking his home . Many slabs were added To the field that year .
But still I had to work . I was young , but everyone had to work . Disaster struck when the sun Was about to rest for the day . A boom was heard from our small village , All of us stopped in our tracks ,
