A Sticky Situation by Davi James
Three young kids , all two years apart . Down the street we walk , Where we aren ’ t supposed to be , Doing things we aren ’ t supposed to do .
Up the street , unmistakable headlights . We disappear behind some shrubs , Not quick enough .
A party of blue lights attacks my eyes . The tools of my trade hidden away , As I ’ m brought into an unwanted situation .
Without a game plan set , I take the lead and they follow . “ I ’ m 14 ,” I say . Somehow , we are all two years older .
A swift and quiet ride home , Full of regret : One set of tearful eyes , And two boys laughing to themselves .
