Junior year he won two tournaments and placed 4 th in the class LL tournament and 4 th in the state open tournament with a record of 24-10 . At that point people started to take notice of his wrestling talents .
“ Throughout the season I ’ ve seen Keonta be a leader and great influencer for the wrestling team and especially myself as he coached me to get my first medal ,” teammate Edgardo Lopez said .
This year though , Keonta proved he was the best in the state and one of the best in New England . He holds a record of 41-4 this year , making history being the first Enfield Eagle to win both the Class LL and State Open tournaments since the combination of the two schools ( Fermi and Enfield ).
His final record is 82-20 and only lost 1 dual match and winning 10 tournaments 8 in his final year .
“ He enjoys the process of hard work but also likes to keep things fun while he ’ s practicing and even wrestling ,” teammate Connor Pearl said .
Crawford finished with 82 wins , for a high school wrestler , 100 wins is the golden number that teams across the state celebrate . The wrestling community is left to wonder if Keonta would have achieved that if he had a freshman season . He won 82 matches in only three seasons of competition , which is exceptional .
“ He ’ s a great guy on and off the wrestling always trying to push people to be the best wrestlers they can be he was definitely one of the hardest workers in that room trying every day to achieve his high school goals he has set for himself ,” said teammate Anthony Martinez .
