EAA Triple Five Flier Volume 41 #1 | Page 4

But I got to thinking that it would be really good if you could be warned somehow that you were about to lose control. Heck, I don’ t have any idea from one minute to the next when I’ m going to get all wound up. All it takes for me is to see that dang silver colored cat out back, and I just lose it. Most of the pilots I know seem to be a little cooler and more level-headed than I am, but I bet they could still use some kind of alert when their airplanes were not in coordinated flight.
One day, I grabbed a rawhide stick and chewed on it for a couple hours, and after I went looking around the kitchen, it finally hit me! There’ s this cup thing on the door of my crate that they put water in for me. What if I could set that up in the airplane? When I ride around in the back of the truck in the crate, if we go over a big bump, or around a sharp turn, that water spills all over me. Pretty fun. The same thing might happen in the air-plane. Fly right, or end up with water all over you!
So I need to work out the math on how much water to use and stuff, and the real hard part will be mounting the cup in the airplane. Fortunately, my dad got me a 3D printer, and as soon as I finish putting it together, I can start modeling prototype cup clamps. Next month, I’ ll report on my progress with that. In the meantime, I need to go rest. The sore spots from that tutoring ordeal are really fading away at this point, and I could use a good nap about now.
