Wes: “When you get the renewal there is language to the effect that you can't have a flying airplane but I don't remember exactly what the language was. “I certify that we are not going to
do racing, there is a full list of things you are not allowed to do and one of them is have an airworthy airplane.“ John Hotovec: “There is a solution. We have the value of the aircraft assessed, we all pay an equal share and we all then own it.“ Fritz: “Well then everyone would
have to pay and some of them don't want to pay.“ Another member: “It would still be chapter
555.“ John: “No it wouldn't, it would be the members but not chapter 555.“ Another member:
“We need to get a clarification from national on this subject.“
Bret Hahn was supposed to be in town to talk to us about what is going on with the national
organization but he had to go to Texas today so he is not here
Young Eagles: No repor t.
Rusty Pilots: Doug Newton talked about the 'Rusty Pilot Seminar ' that will be held in
January. Doug: “I think we have been pretty fortunate. I have bee in contact with AOPA. They
have a four-part program trying to step up the interest in aviation. One of the parts is the rusty
pilot effort. They will come in with a presentation for any interested people. It takes three
hours, on the 28th of January. They send out a notification to all the pilots within a 100 mile
radius of the area who have fallen behind on medicals and etc. We just have to provide the
space for the presentation. Aero Club of Las Cruces chapter 182 is going to be sponsoring it. In
order to make sure it is impartial I have invited the members of the three clubs here and Hal
Kading, who rents airplanes, to show what is available in the area. The whole project is to try
to get people re-interested in flying who have dropped out of it. It is free and you can get the
ground portion of your BFR out of the way by attending. I have attended several of these seminars around the country and they do a real good job.
Jerry: “One additional thing: I see that they are having a mountain flying overview. Its the FAA
Safety Team who will be at Santa Theresa at the War Eagles Museum on the 3rd of December
beginning at 10:30 AM.. We do have a few mountains around here and it might be a good idea
to familiarize ourselves with mountain flying.“
