Start Small , Start Now !
pre-trip to Sedona and then come back and be thinking , oh my gosh , and come back from the trip and want to sell . We just didn ’ t know . So my inside scoop response is whatever dream that you ’ re thinking about , whatever it is , if it ’ s a business or if it ’ s international travel or solo travel , whatever it is , get started with as little expense and resources you possibly can because once you get going , it ’ s not going to take very long before you find out exactly what you want and what you need . So now I know exactly what we want . I don ’ t know if we ’ re going to go and do it , but I know exactly what we like . Like for instance , Class A ’ s . There ’ s a lot of Class A ’ s out there . I think we found that if we were in a Class A we ’ d be susceptible to some larger fees , like maintenance fees . If it broke down for a family of five , then we have to stay in a hotel , possibly have insurance for those types of things . There ’ s something about being in a fifth wheel travel trailer that really works well for us . You don ’ t know those things until you get out there and you do it .
TRISH : That is super cool . I believe that ’ s the scoop of where to start and how to get going . I believe all of us are stronger and better than we think we are , but sometimes we can get in our own way . So I want to know how you were able to kind of quiet any of the fears that popped up for you and how have you been staying motivated to continue to create the life that you want ?
MARC : We both know it was the podcast that started this trip because of hearing at the time we left there were 60 some episodes when we made the decision to go . It took about that many episodes for us to have heard these stories to make the commitment to do it . But once we made the decision , the podcasts for me , and listening to the stories , turned into something completely different . Then it was a source of quieting the voice and staying motivated and staying focused because we had already made the decision to go . Then I was listening to the podcast and hearing the stories and thinking that ’ s good . It ’ s going to be okay . Because you asked for the mentor ’ s minute and you hear the mentor ’ s minute and you hear some of the obstacles and whatnot and I would hear it , but now I ’ m listening to it , knowing that we ’ re going on May 27 th . It was different to hear it . The podcast created the trip , the podcasts centered us before we left . Then once we launched , it was just an experience .
TRISH : That is so cool . I love hearing that . How do I quiet fear and stay motivated ? I think surrounding myself with people that are out there doing . Taking advice from someone who ’ s never done what you ’ re doing is not a path you want to go down . So finding people that are out there , either RVing or sailing , every time we meet up with a sailor on the road , I ’ m thinking , yes , I get so jazzed . I get so excited about where we ’ re going because ultimately that ’ s what we want to do , what we ’ re striving for , because sometimes you ’ re like , okay , wait , what am I doing ? What ’ s the ultimate end game here ? It ’ s not about the end game . It ’ s about the experiences . It ’ s about thinking wringing out the life experiences . Then on top of it , we get to share that with our family and our kids . And that just supersedes any of my expectations for what our dreams are .
MARC : If you ask any RVer about your fears of going through the Northeast or going through the desert or whatever the case is , they ’ re going to give you an answer . The answer is , here ’ s how you do it , because they did it . When you talk to a sailor about how to cross an ocean , or anything of that nature , they ’ re going to say , well , here ’ s how you do it because they ’ re gonna say here ’ s how we did it . But if you ask somebody or even share your ideas with someone about RVing or sailing or international travel , solo backpacking , here ’ s what they ’ re going to say . Are you sure ? Because that sounds dangerous , that sounds hard . I think you have to be very careful when you are in that commitment stage and you know it ’ s something you ’ re going to do that you surround yourself around people who have done it because you get much , much different feedback . But I think anybody listening to us knows that because this is the community where you ’ re going to get fired up and , and connect with other people .
