Start Small , Start Now !
TRISH : You ’ re in Zion in a trailer with your kids and no house , and not having the community and not feeling like it wouldn ’ t have mattered . It didn ’ t even matter . The client necessarily didn ’ t even matter , but it was the first time where the solution was in front of me and it was not behind me . When people get pushed up against a wall , they tend to go back to what they know . They tend to reduce , go smaller and go back . This is what I know . I ’ m going to go back and do this or this is what I know I ’ m going to reach out to this person because of what they know . When you leave a community and you ’ re going to be gone for six months , you don ’ t go back to the
of the voice that says you got this and this is going to work and you ’ ve committed to the systems that ’ s going to grow this business . Just , don ’ t worry about it . Stay focused on that . Stay the course . It ’ s gonna work , and it did .
TRISH : It did . I think that ’ s something to really take to heart in anything that when people are trying to achieve a new dream , moving forward is the only way out . Moving backwards is only giving you more of the same . I think the hardest thing for me is the homeschooling aspect . We ’ re not even homeschooling , we ’ re just online schooling , just making sure everybody ’ s doing what

OURSELF ... WHAT ARE YOU COMMITTED TO ?

community . The solution was in the unknown . It was to move forward . It wasn ’ t just a one-time solution . It was your solution for everything pertaining to work .
MARC : The long-term solution for making this work with sustainability was going to be in front of me and not behind me . I guess that ’ s just the best way I can put it .
THE REALITY IS YOU HAVE
TO PUSH FORWARD ,
MAKE A NEW ROAD .
TRISH : That ’ s a great way to put it because it makes so much sense because when you go back to what you ’ re comfortable doing , what you ’ ve seen success in doing , you are attracted to that . You ’ re like , I can be successful there . I ’ m going back . Let me race back . But the reality is you have to push forward , make a new road . That right there in and of itself is scary .
MARC : Of course , you have that voice in your head that says this was a bad mistake . What were you thinking ? You need to go back to what you know . You have two choices , you believe the voice and say , you ’ re right . Oh my gosh , let ’ s pack up . Or you listen to the other part they ’ re supposed to be doing and creating some kind of normalcy in a completely not normal situation . So that has been a challenge . But even when I finally get through one of those hard days , I realized how much more our kids are soaking in and actually retaining . It ’ s not just a bunch of memorization . As Seth Godin says , “... if it needs to be memorized , you shouldn ’ t memorize it . You should go look it up .”
What you really need to be doing is finding interesting things to figure out and to be excited about . He says you don ’ t ever tell an artist to stop . You have to do one more and they ’ re like , no , I don ’ t want to . They ’ re thinking , can I please do another one ? I think that that ’ s the coolest part is seeing our kids go into a city and understand things like the subway and learning real history . Like going to Boston and watching them understand Boston and what ’ s happened . Then Tori , our daughter texted me later that day and she ’ s thinking history is so much more interesting now that we ’ d been to Boston and I understand what ’ s happened . I mean , when you make the world real instead of giving a textbook , that ’ s just awesome .
