Some cities to visit around Split
What dilemma to choose only a few cities around Split to get to know them, so that the entire region of Split is
wonderfully beautiful. So we chose to present briefly the cities of Solin, Salona, Trogir and Omis. We will not spend
on the historical side of the city that is rich in events, but on the current side of its cities. In future issues, we will focus
on these cities and other towns and villages of Dalmatia equally surprising beauty, culture and history.
Solin
Solin and Salona, have both a common connotation but are
quite different. The town of Solin is today the guarantor of
a historic and living cultural heritage and guarantee of the
historical heritage of Salona. Resolutely young and
growing city, taking full advantage of its proximity to Split
(proximity to the sea and the road), the two cities are
adjacent. Coming to Solin is coming in a quiet town where
there is very live and spend holidays in a city where water
is virtually present. During the summer season, under the
leadership of the House of Culture of Solin, Solin is the
theater for concerts and various cultural events (Ethnoambient ...) and artistic grouping different nationalities
(international exhibition of caricature ...). Solin knows how to enjoy his story to highlight, playing scenes from Roman life,
such as "Romance in Salona"; and organize events around the food from the Roman era.
For accommodations, Solin is pretty poor in hotel, the “President Hotel” is ideal, against an offer by quite meaty on holiday
with a very good value for money. Viewpoint catering, restaurants Solin are very good, "the Slap" where the specialty is
grilled eel and trout and other fish specialties and the "Girasole" restaurant, which offers traditional and gourmet Croatian and
Italian cooking is exceptional, all in a warm atmosphere and impeccable service. To visit the ruins of Salona, the mill Gaspic,
The Parac home aquarium Split, the Roman ruins around the city...
Tip: in summer, a moment of rest with a drink in the cafe of the House of Culture of Solin, you will hear only is the sound of
the river Jadro; it is a moment of pure happiness ...
Salona
At 20 minutes walk from the center of Solin, Salona is a
desert city lives. This town was completely destroyed by
the barbarian invasions (circa 630). This city that was at the
time the administrative center of th
