Career Sin # 4: Lack of skills
Many students party more than they study at university. They
do not participate in any extra curriculum activities and do not
sign up for optional courses.
When students graduates they seem to think that the learning
phase of their lives is behind them and start directly looking for
their dream job.
When already having a job many never consider to upgrade or
update their education and acquire new skills.
Result: lack of skills which might prove to be crucial when
looking for a new job.
Believing that you know it all and you can carry on without an
educational upgrade is going to cost you dearly career-wise at
some point.
What to do?
For one thing, take your classes seriously. Lecturers give you
knowledge you will need but you still have to be active and
actively engage in the study process to get the maximum out of
it.
