DaysTune Spotlight: Felix Cartal
I had demos from both them sent to me through management and loved what I heard right away. They were both strong singers but in different ways so I knew they would contrast each other really well on the EP. Also it was great to get into the studio with them and actually sit down and write the songs together. It was a true collaborative process. They are extremely talented and this wouldn’t have been possible without them.
3) On our featured track, “Let It Go” everything is dialed back from your previous work, with the introduction of a more brooding vibe. Where does the influence for this song come from?
I think I’ve always liked music with a bit of a melancholic vibe, but I don’t always want all my songs to sound that way. I like ending EP’s and records with that feeling though where you’re unsure of what’s to come next. Not sure if this rubbed off on me growing up listening to Radiohead, but it’s consistent with my past work as well, such as New Scene on my last EP. I also love the challenge of making something with a bit of sadness in the dance scene, because i don’t think it happens enough.
Felix's "Let It Go" ft. Lily Elise was DaysTune's song of the day April 30th, 2014. His new Credits EP is available now on iTunes.

London’s Norma Jean Martine Is One To Watch With “No Gold”.
Everybody knows that the United Kingdom is where the music is at these days. It also happens to be the birthplace of a multitude of amazing singers, songwriters, DJ’s and producers, that are making their way to the top of the charts and over to the US. As they say, “it must be something in the water”, or in this case – the tea. Norma Jean Martine is poised to be just one more incredible import from land of Big Ben and Adele, with just one exception; she’s from the US.
Just into her twenties, the rousing, blues-rock singer/songwriter who spent her childhood listening to greats like Janis Joplin and Carole King, decided her music needed some outside influences. Born just outside of New York, Norma relocated to Nashville to study at Belmont University, before making the jump to London. Since then, she’s released several preview tracks to Soundcloud, opened for top acts like Tom Odell, James Aruthur and Lissie, along with releasing her debut single, “No Gold”. Reviews of her support are often focused more on the amazing vocal and musical performance of Martine, than the headlinersthemselves.
Rightfully so, you only need to see her perform “No Gold” one time live, to know you’re looking at a star.
Currently moving between Nashville and London, Norma has also been in LA recently working on her upcoming debut LP. You get pieces of Adele, Amy Winehouse, moments of BANKS and skillful sways between blues-rock, soundtrack ready soulful ballads and infectious indie-pop. Everything comes down to where Norma points her vocal compass at that moment. Now, it’s just a matter of getting her to come back home.
