iya is lying in her bed without a sign of sleep in her eyes. The bags are packed, the clock is ticking after midnight and the memories of her 22 years spent in her town are revolving in front of her eyes. After finding it
hard to resist this unnamed feeling, she decides to call her best friend who felt the same way some years back. “Rahul, I
am not sure if I can leave my parents. I don’t want to go.” Rahul, knowing her since childhood understood the inner confusion of Riya to leave her home for future studies.
He replied in a consoling voice, “Riya, I know how you are feeling right now. But you have to go, itni door jaane ki
kya zaroorat hai? are exactly the words you must have heard from your parents when you just decided to chase your
dreams and go away. And this is the time when you are just about to leave the ‘greatest comforts’ of your home to seek
the golden land of opportunities. Opportunities you know you will never get while staying in the all comfortable, all familiar
cocoon called ‘home’. So you packed your bags; but tomorrow night while travelling, you will yourself become a mixed bag
of emotions. Fear will grip you and in that moment , you will feel an excitement on the thought of going to an unknown
place. Only you will be able to understand the inner turmoil that you will face. But hopes will give you the wings and your
flight will start.
But as soon you arrive to that dream land of yours, you will realize how small we are in this BIG world. No matter
how much you talked to your friends or how many dinners you had with your family in the past, trust me they never made
you find yourself. This will change when you start living alone and enjoying your own company. You will go on to find new
hobbies that will give you a better introspection of yourself. You will get to know how to set limits for yourself from how
early to wake up early in the morning to how late to return from late night parties. While washing the clothes, you will find
that Surf is better than Rin & that it can also be used to wash the utensils. By the way, never suggest this idea to your
mom for obvious reasons. By buying the daily vegetables, you will find the real meaning of the term savings better than
before. You will realize your hidden potential of surviving in any corner of earth. Ok. Don’t judge me Riya. I know earth is
round. But you can’t deny the fact that no matter how far you stay alive from your loved ones, they will always have a
home in your heart. And then Diwali will come. Instead of crackers, your heart will burn for not being close with your close
ones. Your search for loved ones in every stranger that meets you will go on.
You will finally realize the vital company of your family, which you never cherished while being with them. But no
one can get the best of both worlds. The sacrifice that you are making now will transform you into an organization itself.
From organizing your clothes to organizing your goals, your life will revolve around yourself only. ‘ Carefree’ is the word
that describes you best now will then be replaced by ‘responsible’. Responsibility that you will show someday while buying
cheap groceries of best quality. Congratulations to you for starting on a path of being an adult. In the hope of creating a
life for yourself and becoming a whole human, just remember what you have committed to your parents before leaving
them. Be disciplined, humble and patient. For it is said, ‘only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far
it is possible to go.’ Have faith in your decisions and stick with them; they will lead you to success in some way or another.” This 30 minutes long dialogue somehow did the magic in Riya’s life and she became firm on her decision to go away.
The flight started and she was unstoppable.
