MORNINGTON DUTCH AUSTRALIAN SENIOR CLUB (VIC)
Hello all, July 30th is date of our Annual General Meeting and the members present will enjoy a hot lunch with dessert after the meeting. At the time of writing this article there were no nominations for the two positions, up for election, which are the President and Treasurer. Next month I will include the new Committee for 2012/13. In August we hope to do a special outing and organize a lunch after/before the outing. (At time of writing this article it had not been confi rmed) As winter is approaching a lot of our members go away on holidays, some to warmer climates, but we will still be open and try to arrange events for those that come to the club during the winter months. We are also grateful to Newhope for assisting us with supported transport, via a new project, to enable some of our members to come to our club each week. Thank you to all involved from Newhope. We welcome people who are interested in Dutch Culture, or the games we play, to come and visit our club. We play rummicub, klaverjaas, may I and other social games. We are open for new games or suggestions for the club. HACHÉE WITH MUSHROOMS
Dice the gravy beef in small cubes and cook these in the cooking margarine or butter until brown. Add ?nely chopped onions and let them cook golden brown. Then add the water, pepper, salt, bay leaves and cloves, put the lid on the cooking pot and let it simmer for 2½ hours on a low heat, then add the sliced mushrooms and let it simmer for another half hour. Remove the 2 bay leaves and the 2 cloves. Then add tablespoon of tomato paste. Thicken the hachée with the corn?our mixed in some water and ?nish the hachee to your taste by adding pepper and salt. I used cooked Dutch cream potatoes, a pot of red cabbage and a pot of applesauce to serve with the hachée. Samelijk eten. Hallo Klaverjas vrienden, Zo we hebben alweer 6 van de 11 toernooien van het jaar er op zitten en het begind er al leuk uit te zien voor het kampioenschap van het jaar, maar blijf komen naar de toernooien en dan is er nog steeds de kans voor elke speler om kampioen te worden voor het jaar. Het toernooi op Zondag 8 Julie werd gespeeld in de “RembrandClub” StMarys, ik vond de opkomst een beetje tegen vallen, maar er zijn spelers die momenteel in Nederland zijn voor een wel verdiende vakantie, en zolang als de mensen het nog aan kunnen moeten ze het ook doen, maar met al dat waren we maar met 44 spelers en dit aantal hebben we gekregen doordat we Jan Joosten van achter de bar uit haalde om de 11 tafels vol te maken, dus Jan hartelijke dank. Het toernooi was genoemd “De geluks Beker” en de winner was; Piet Smit, Neerlandia met 5243 punten en 2 marsen. tweede; Lowie Lemmerman, Rembrandt met 5226 punten en 3 marsen. derde Rinus Bussing, S.K.C. met 5194 punten en 3 marsen. vierde Vonia Visser, Neerlandia 4867 punten en niet een mars. Dan nog als vijfde Louise Ballas, Rembrandt 4860 punten en 3 marsen. Het magishe nummer 4444 verdiende ook een prijs en dat was Wolfgang Kohertz met 4440 puntn, dan waren er ook nog 5 lucky door prijzen, het was als gewoonlijk weer een gezellige bijeen komst. De vrijwilligers in de keuken hebben ook nu weer heel erg hun best gedaan en de lunches waren dan ook goed verzorgd en lekker. Het volgende toernooi word gehouden in de “D.A.S.I.-Club” Woonona, Zondag 12 Augustus en is genoemd “Winter tournament” en georganiseerd door de D.A.S.I.-Club, Dan de maand daarna word het “Couples tournament” gehouden in de RembrandtClub op Zondag 16 September en georganiseerd door de Federatie, dus dat betekend dat ik juist 2 dagen voor dit toernooi weer terug ben van mijn vakantie (4 weken uit en thuis van een trip naar Nederland). Het is nog altijd zo dat elke auto kan minstens 4 spelers inbrengen, zo help elkaar waar het mogelijk is… Uw Federatie voorzitter Cor Merkx

DutchCare”s friendly visiting volunteer team in the Latrobe Valley is organizing a father’s Day Social. A luncheon will be served and all Dutch people are welcome to join us.
