Hello readers wherever you may be. Hope the winter cold is not bothering you too much. Another month or so and the summer gear will be getting an airing to get rid of the mothball smells. July has been a month full of activities. There were movies people. Shall not go into details otherwise it will spoil it for the people who may like to watch the movie. ORANGE DAY CELEBRATION WITH THE ‘THE CLOGS’
South West Do Care’s Dutch group really added to their Orange Day celebrations this year. The group from Colac known as ‘The Clogs’, have been gathering monthly for several years now. There was an added excitement at this year’s Orange Day when they had a visiting clog dancer from Apollo Bay. Ria Oude Meilink has been clog dancing for many years and travels to Melbourne several times a month to dance and teach her skills to others.

She spoke about her long road to recovery and how she gradually was introduced to life with a guide dog. The average cost of a fully trained dog is around $30.000 at this stage. The cost of training these brilliant creatures is totally funded through fundraising and it appears that they receive NO government funding at all.
