Uncle Garry , I will remember you as kind fun and generous . You took great joy in making people happy . From throwing me an 18th at Glenferrie Road to flying me home from London to surprise my family at Christmas , nothing was too much . A memory that makes me smile is being thrown the keys to your Porsche at 18 and you asking me to take Lucas to McDonalds . Seeing panic in my eyes you said , ‘’ it ’ s just a car if anything happens hit the brakes !’’. Our nearly 30 year working relationship began with me labelling cans in the Wynn ’ s warehouse at 17 . Then on to Autobarn , running the backpackers and finally working side by side for many years in Kew . It was fun , crazy , stressful and absolutely mad at times but never boring . You always had a vision for greatness and wanted to make life better for those close to you . You were a massive part of my life . UG , I will miss you greatly . Jayne Dumbrell
The Garry we met was the ‘ Businessman Garry ’. Clearly great at his work - smart , intuitive , creative and diligent . The Garry we got to know and love was the ‘ Family man Garry ’. Loving , generous , loyal and protective . He always placed his family , both immediate and extended , at the forefront of everything he did . Those of you who didn ’ t know the family man Garry have missed the very best of him . We who did will always be grateful for that privilege .
We are so thankful to Garry for his friendship , wisdom , guidance and support . His generosity and hospitality were unparalleled . He was courageous and dignified in the face of adversity , and we admired him so much . We Miss him already !
