“ Britain is not gonna take you seriously until you take yourself seriously.
Britain is not gonna give you nothing because you think you deserve it.”
There was a time when I was angry,
more with myself than at the world.
I had allowed myself to be deceived.
How could I have let myself be
misled? Being self-taught after
I did my O Level Photography,
from that point on it was
just me versus myself. To look
back on it now, I don’t know how
I didn’t go insane, and lose it. I went
through a lot of different phases of
photography, working with The
Watchman Agency, for example,
which we set-up in 1990 to handle
accounts likes of Caterpillar, Levis,
Jemaique, and Des’Ree. We were the
first bunch of black guys to go in the
middle of town in Soho to setup a
PR and marketing company, and
decide that we were going to make
a difference. Later, though, there
were differences of opinions and we
parted company. Then it was time
to define what Kofi wanted to do
as Kamara.
