Statement from MSA(GB)
Regarding the National Associations Steering Group
26 March 2014
On Thursday 20 March the Motor Schools Association (MSA) released a
statement regarding the National Associations Steering Group (NASG).
We said that “Whether or not the MSA will continue in membership of the NASG will be decided by the MSA Board of Management at their Meeting on Monday 24 March.”
The MSA would have liked to stay in the NASG and use the previously agreed structure to deal with any problems that arose. However, the withdrawal of other groups means that in our view the NASG in its present form is not sustainable. Reluctantly the MSA has decided to withdraw from the group and will attempt to work with others to form a new group with clearly set out terms of reference.
Peter Harvey
Chairman MSA
Driving Instructors Branch of Unite the Union made the follow comment.
Unite is disappointed and frustrated at the withdrawal of some associations from the NASG. Matt Draper National Officer for Unite the Union said “concerns are that with the fragmentation of the group, the consensus opinion will be lost and may have a detrimental effect on the industry as there is potential for an organisation to put its personal agenda ahead of the interests of the industry”
