ADINJC and DIA Withdraw from the National Associations Steering Group (NASG)

It is with regret that the governing committees of both the ADINJC and DIA have decided to withdraw from the National Associations Steering Group (NASG) with immediate effect. We have jointly concluded that the actions of some members of the group have bought NASG and the industry into disrepute. Furthermore, despite previously agreeing clear and reasonable terms of reference to enable us all to work productively together, these terms have been too frequently disregarded, to the detriment of individual representatives, associations within the group and sadly, the group as a whole.

These issues, combined with clear differences in opinion and prioritisation on what the focus of the group should be (in the context of the working proactively to develop ways to progress the profession) makes our continued membership of NASG untenable.

Withdrawing from NASG has no effect on either organisation’s consultative status with the DVSA , and both associations will continue to work closely with the agency.

Both ADINJC and DIA have always supported the idea of working together to unite the profession. We will continue to do so in a collaborative and respectful way, and still believe this could benefit the industry. We already share a sound working relationship with DISC and MSA and will continue to work with them openly, honestly and in a professional manner. We are equally happy to talk to any other representative associations who wish to consider working with us in the same spirit.

By taking action now we believe this will lead to a more productive and stronger voice for driving instructors in the near future.
