Drifting Through Citycapes Mapping the Local 2018 | Page 45

Although it was somewhat helpful to build some context around each bridge , this research did not significantly infiltrate our journal collages . We assigned ourselves each a page to create , in order to break the consistency of the aesthetic and get a more inspired overall view of our whole experience without the limitation of compromise . It is obvious that our ‘ research ’ is by no means scientific or perhaps even accurate in some opinions , but our emphasis was on our perception as opposed to fact and history .
The bridges are very important to Budapest because it connects the two former cities Buda and Pest . The two are linked ; linking pedestrians , cars , food culture etc . The word ‘ Bridge ’ is very important to everyone . It is an invisible line that exists in everybody ; in every city , in every country , in every corner of the world .
Bridge = Line = Connection .
There are many kinds of different people on each bridge , each passing through the bridge , so there is a link between them . The bridge is not the only line connecting the city , but also a place that carries the stories of many people : happy people , sad people , running people , walking people , crying people , laughing people , lonely people and couples etc . So we used collage to connect the different items and atmospheres we saw on the bridge . The bridge is an invisible line , connecting all the people , including me and my team members .

Our Instagram embodies the same kind of perceptions that we were aiming for in our journal , but through photography . Capturing images of the essence and activity that takes place on and around each bridge , keeping it ambiguous as to which picture depicts which location . We wanted the photographs to be cohesive and interesting , focusing on the activity and atmosphere as opposed to the aesthetic and design of the bridges .
