Grade Level: Adult
Topic Explored; S
Materials; I used cotton for the background, with rubber stamps to list some of Edison's inventions, important dates, and such. I cut out appliqués of some of Edison's inventions...I couldn't live without my morning toast! One of
the techniques I used is thread painting
(see child's hair). Piece is lightly
machine quilted.
Title: "What's New In A Kid's Head?"
About; From the word list in the background, to the representative art in
the conversation "bubble" it
is obvious that Thomas Edison was a
brilliant man who invented so many
things we take for granted today. The child is thinking about all these things, and the question marks represent what he/she may come up with in the future to benefit society around the world. I am from Ohio, and very proud, that Thomas Edison was also born here. I am also very proud that he was an American. I think that America needs to rethink production and invention here at home, and helping kids get a better education so they can invent the things
we will need during the 21st Century. We
need to bring production home to
America.
Did you enjoy this project? I loved working on this project...I admire Edison greatly, and making this quilt served a
two-fold purpose...to expound on
Edison's gifts, and a little self-help in
recovery from neurosurgery.
