I2.
PREPARATION FOR FUTURE PHOTOVOLTAIC INSTALLATION
CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION Note that this measure is mutually exclusive with measure I3. Note that this measure is not available for developments with 10 or more units. One point of credit are available for complying with all of the following:

If the project will use roof area for the photovoltaic system, provide an unshaded section of south or west roof area of at least 200 square feet or larger, clear of vent pipes and other obstructions, to allow for the installation of modules. If the project will use ground area for the system, provide a reserved area free of obstructions. Install electrical conduit( minimum ¾ inch) from the roof / attic area to a junction box next to the buildings’ electrical service entrance area. The conduit should be sized to accommodate a reasonable load of the home. Engineer the roof trusses to handle an additional load of five pounds per square foot beyond that of the anticipated load for the roofing material. Provide an area near the electric service entrance area for the inverter required to convert the direct current output from the photovoltaic panels to alternating current. Provide the owner with a roof plan with the preferred location for photovoltaic modules and the conduit location clearly marked. Provide structural information on what added / reduced loads the roof should accommodate.( For example, one type of photovoltaic system, called buildingintegrated photovoltain modules, typically weighs less than the roof tiles they replace.)
Use a licensed and qualified electrician or solar installer to determine the project’ s exact installation specifications.
Pre-wiring does not need to penetrate the roof.
VERIFICATION
Field Verification: The Rater will conduct field compliance verification and take photos to verify conduit installation.
Documentation: The Rater will collect a building and / or electrical plan detailing materials, systems, and layout.
INTENT
DRAFT
To reduce costs of installation and the impact on the structure by providing in-wall components and structural and space design for a future photovoltaic system.
I3. ONSITE RENEWABLE GENERATION( SOLAR PV, SOLAR THERMAL, AND WIND)
CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION Note that this measure is mutually exclusive with measures I1 and I2.
