J Building Performance and Testing VERIFICATION Field Verification: The Rater will complete the Elements Energy Survey Worksheet or a Report from the home performance contractor with equivalent information. The GreenPoint Rated Existing Home Energy Survey must be submitted to Build It Green. INTENT To educate homeowners, tenants, and building owners on energy efficiency. J2. ENERGY UPGRADES (ELEMENTS ONLY) CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION Note: this measure is mutually exclusive with measure J3, “Elements Energy Survey and Education”. Two to six points are available for completing the measures listed in this section. At least two points must be earned to receive credit for any of the measures in this section. These measures are presented in two tiers, with measures in Tier 1 (measures J2.1 through J2.10) earning one point and measures in Tier 2 (measures J2.11 through J2.17) earning ½ point. A project may choose measures from both tiers. J2.1. Attic Insulation Meeting or Exceeding Current Code (1 Point) This measure only applies to building with five stories or less. Insulation must be installed throughout the attic to qualify. A roof that is insulated to meet or exceed current code meets the intent of this measure. J2.2. Cool Roof (1 Point) Refer to Title 24 part 6 for cool roof specifications. J2.3. Crawl Space and Floor Insulation Meeting or Exceeding Current Code (1 Point) Insulation must be installed throughout the crawlspace to qualify. A floor over a crawlspace insulated to meet or exceed current code meets the intent of this measure. J2.4. Wall Insulation Meeting or Exceeding Current Code (1 Point) 75% of exterior walls must meet criteria. J2.5. High Efficiency Space Heating (1 Point) This measure is available for partial credit. A central furnace must have a minimum 90% AFUE. A central boiler must have a minimum 85% AFUE and Heating Performance Seasonal Factor (HPSF) of at least 8. J2.6.
