Asbestos Testing and Remediation (1 Point) Community If any product containing asbestos (e.g., insulation, fire protection, ducts, shingles, tiles, adhesives, popcorn ceiling, etc.) is being removed or disturbed, best practices in removal and remediation requirements must be followed by code. Additionally, a homeowner may want to take corrective action based on existence. The consultation, removal, and disposal must be completed by a certified consultant if the area of material removal is greater than 100 square feet. If the area of material removal is less than 100 square feet, then the owner may complete the removal and disposal without hiring a licensed professional. The disposal must be completed to code required standards. The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) licenses and regulates all contractors who are qualified to do asbestos work in buildings.
