strictly catch and release.
The Park District no longer issues/requires
its own fishing passes. All Cook County
and State of Illinois licensing requirements
still apply.
For the health of the lake, and to respect
your fellow fishermen, please follow

Fall Fest for our new Lake Opeka Fishing
Derby. It’s free for anglers of all ages, and
prizes will be awarded in two age groups:
a) 12 and younger b) 13 and older
Bait is provided.

Sailing and Boating
Boating season is May 1 to October 31.
Sailing is available to those owning a boat
who are properly qualified. Privately owned
boats must be registered. All boaters must
sign in and out at the clubhouse. Sailing is
only permitted during hours when waterfront
staff is on duty.
Sail on with the Des Plaines Yacht Club!
If you’re interested in sailing, and want to
share that interest with a friendly group,
join us for a meeting and get involved with
our fun activities. Meetings are at the Lake
Park Clubhouse. For more information

Paddle Boat Rentals
All boaters must be at least 16 years of age
or be accompanied by an adult. All rentals
are arranged in the clubhouse.
Residents: $10/half-hour • $18/1 hour
Non-res.: $12/half-hour • $20/1 hour
Group paddle boat rentals are available.

Regattas
Regattas take place throughout the season,
on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday
evenings. Come join us!
Kayak Rentals
Residents: $8/half-hour •, $14/1 hour
Non-res.: $10/half-hour • $16/1 hour
Fishing Boat Rentals
Residents: $12/half-hour • $20/1 hour
Non-residents: $14/half-hour • $22/1 hour
Maximum of 2 people per boat.
Anyone under age 18 must be accompanied
by an adult 21 years or older.

2014 Boating Fees
Daily Launch Fee: For users who prefer to
pay for the use of Lake Opeka one day at
a time.
Residents: $10 Non residents: $20
Annual User Fee: Includes use of
Lake Opeka for the entire season,
April 1–October 31.
Residents: $60 • Non-residents: $100
Boat Mooring Fee: Includes mooring
slip and use of Lake Opeka for the entire
season, April 1–October 31.
Residents: $175 • Non-residents: $325
Moorings and Winter Boat Storage
Wet and dry moorings are available.
Dry winter moorings are available from
November 1–March 31. All moorings are
reserved on a first come, first served basis,
and those with a mooring from the previous
year have priority. A registration form is
available at DPParks.org, or call the Lake
Park Clubhouse at 847-391-5730.
Rental cost per mooring:
