ANGEL RECITATION
Central to working with Angels is the Angel Recitation. Several oriental traditions
advocate the repetition of sacred formulas called mantras. In The Traditional Study of
Angels, this practice is called Schem Hamephorash, or Angel Recitation.
Angel Recitation is very easy to practice. Standing, sitting, or lying down, we breathe
naturally while continually repeating the Name of an Angel. We continue for as long as
we can and at our own rhythm. We invoke either in silence or out loud. We can also use
one of the methods listed below.
1) invoking as we breathe in - This first method consists in taking a deep breath through
the nose while silently pronouncing the Name of the Angel one or more times. For
example: “MIKAEL, MIKAEL, MIKAEL …” We then hold our breath for a few seconds
before breathing out slowly and gradually through the nose. Once we have regained inner
calm, we breathe freely while continuing to silently invoke the Angel as we inhale.
2) invoking as we breathe out - This method consists in taking a deep breath through the
nose after which we exhale pronouncing the Name of the Angel quietly, out loud, or in
silence. For example: “VEHUIAH, VEHUIAH, VEHUIAH …” We inhale deeply once
again and we repeat the process.
3) deep breathing during continuous invocation - This third method consists in repeating
the Name of the Angel continually and silently while fully inhaling, and then completely
exhaling the air from the lungs. For those unaccustomed to deep breathing, this may cause
dizziness. If so, the breathing rhythm can be slowed down or altered with another method
of invoking. It is important to respect personal rhythm.
4) invoking with an intention in mind - This method consists of repeating the Name of the
Angel quietly or silently, according to one of the methods above, while adding to it a
message to the Angel. This message shares with Him our intention to develop a quality or
a particular faculty, or even to rectify or transcend a distortion. For example: “Angel
Hariel, purify my soul and guide me towards purity. HARIEL, HARIEL, HARIEL. Help
me become pure and help me integrate Wisdom within me. HARIEL, HARIEL, HARIEL.
Purify me and teach me what I need to understand. HARIEL, HARIEL, HARIEL. Purify
my soul. HARIEL, HARIEL, HARIEL …”
5) invoking with a question in mind - This method consists in helping us find the answer
to a question. First of all, we formulate a clear question, then we invoke according to one
of the first three methods, all the while incorporating the question and the request so as to
be enlightened and guided towards the answer. For example: “Angel Jeliel, is it right for
me to marry this person? JELIEL, JELIEL, JELIEL. Help me sense whether this is the right
person for my evolution. JELIEL, JELIEL, JELIEL. Enlighten me. JELIEL, JELIEL, JELIEL.
