Facilitating the entry of foreign investment
Iraq’ s National Investment Authority President Mr. Sami Al Arajy has said that Iraq has set a legislation system that comfortably accommodates foreign investments and simplifies investment procedures. To this end, the NIA has created a geographical investment map divided into provinces for sectors including oil, chemicals and gas.
Sami Al Arajy indicated that the vital development of infrastructure projects requires a well set mechanism for direct and indirect foreign investment in Iraq, taking into account the habits of investors who wish to invest in Iraq and take advantage of the wide range of opportunities in various sectors. There is a clear desire to encouraging foreign companies to have a presence in Iraq and capitalize on the opportunities’ availability.
The Iraq National Investment Authority has set indulgence procedures to ensure the ability of the applying companies to execute their projects.
Kurdistan Minister of trade and industry Mr. Sinan Al Jalaby said that the stability of legislation in his province( Ref 4 – 2006) ensures the free flow of equity, and most importantly the free ownership of properties for foreigners and foreign entities, as well as exemption of custom duties from 7 to over 10 years and 100 % ownership of companies.
