DM: So what does your position entail at the station?

PR: Well what I do is scan all music (from all genres) and forward everything I think we would like to play and support to the music department to be played on air. Our vision is to spotlight independent music from all over the world we don’t just deal with the DMV even though we are located here and we deal with all genres of music.

DM: I love the vision over there at W.O.W. so what about your poetry how did you figure out you had that talent?

PR: Oh I have been actually writing poetry for a minute. I actually just started putting them to hip hop beats and performing them live. I would go to hip hop shows and open up before the hip hop acts came on and noticed it hyped the crowd.

DM: Now talk to me a little bit about your jewelry line and how that came about.

PR: I have a hand made jewelry line called Intricate Creations which are a few pieces I made with gemstones, crystals, pearls wire wrapping seashells and other items as well. It started when I was looking for hair jewelry for locs and the selections were very few and far between. I decided to make my own and that turned into me making not only jewelry but candles, glass faces, and home décor as well.

DM: How has your family been as far as a support system goes do they stand behind you in your creative works?

PR: Well my immediate family is behind me 100% and they encourage me to do more heavily. For example my mom is always helping me with funding for my jewelry line and even shows me different places to find different pieces.

DM: That’s beautiful to me because there’s nothing like a supportive family. Now where do you see yourself in five years?

PR: Well I can definitely see myself still involved with radio, and as far as my poetry and jewelry I would love to travel and touch as many people as possible with both. I can definitely see myself traveling especially to show my jewelry because each piece is different and has a different story behind it so that would be something interesting especially when discussing the different stories behind each piece. I plan to have my website up and going where I incorporate my poetry as well as jewelry also.

DM: I thank you so much Persia for your time let us know is there anything we the general public should be on the lookout for?

PR: Thank you and yes I should have my first poetry EP out by this summer entitled “Poetic State of Mind” and I am currently in the work of writing a poetry e-book as well which is currently untitled at the moment!
