DM: Lets take it back how long have you been doing music?
Awthentik: I have been doing music for what seems like forever. My older brother would be In the basement with his friends free-styling and battling each other, so my initial introduction to hip-hop and music comes from him. On a serious level, I have been making music for about 10 years. I started off with my High school friends Nate Owens, Karee Coates and Tim Stewart just recording raps with two turntables and a mic. Later, I met a producer from Queens, NY who would come down on weekends for 2 years straight helping me sharpen my Skills. In 2007, I went to Omega School of Applied Recording Arts + Sciences to make everything come completely together with my craft. There I Studied recording and production and completing their comprehensive program within 2 years.
DM: Did anyone in your family besides you do music as well or are you the first to go for this dream? *
Awthentik: No one else in my family really did music. My dad was very into documenting his life in the form of vocals on an old tape recorder but that’s about it. But I definitely credit my brother and thank him for introducing me to the culture that I fell in love with.
