" I’m pretty traditional all I need is a pen, paper, my phone and turbo coffee"

- Shanita Rush

DM: As far as the creative process when recording how often do you record?

SR: If I'm working on a project, I’m in the studio weekly.*

DM: What’s your studio kit (a list of items in the studio with the artist every time they record).

SR: I’m pretty traditional all I need is a pen, paper, my phone and turbo coffee.

DM: Wow no weed or drank lol just kidding. So I read that you were signed on to Universal, how has that experience been?

SR: I’m actually signed to 5050 Music Group under Universal Music Group. I am currently working on my first major project with the label, so up to this point my experience has been limited. However, being a female rapper in a male dominated career, being signed to a Major label has gained me more respect.

DM: How were you discovered and brought to the modeling world?

SR: My first association with modeling was when I was a sophomore in High School when a scout invited me out to a model search. I began receiving buzz/interest after my first promo and cover shoot with Keon Green of KTG Media Works for my single "Take Me Home". After the shoot, Keon contacted me about doing some promotional projects with him and we began working together. Keon began mentoring and grooming me. In 2010, I was invited for an open call at Wilhelmina, P.A. I was offered a 2-year contract but due to other commitments at the time, I was unable to accept the offer. Over the past few years, I have also had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented photographers in the DMV, most recently Richard Herbert of Snap Photos. I recently signed a contract with Skinny Corleone of 49th Parallel Productions and shortly after Wilhelmina, P.A. to come back for an open call, they contacted me I will be making that trip very soon.
