At first glance one would see Shanita Rush and besides taking a second and third glance one would instantly think she is a model. Pay attention as we sit down and pick the beautiful mind of the home town starlet on the rise. -DM

DM: When you first started modeling what was your first job as a model?

SR: Actually I started out at Elle Avail clothing line.

DM: As far as music do you write your own material?

SR: Yes, I write all of my material. I’ve had a few collaborations in the past, but I wrote majority of my verses for those as well.

DM: How often do you perform?

SR: *Once or twice a week when promoting a project like my “Rush Hour” mix tape, but this year I’ve been busy with my acting projects and working on my EP. I haven’t been preforming as much but I’m sure that will change during the 3rd and 4th quarters of this year.

DM: Ms. Rush first and foremost thank you for your time, where in the DMV are you from?

SR: Thank you for your interest and this opportunity, I lived in DC when I was very young, but I grew up in Southern Maryland

DM: How was it being raised there?

SR: It was great. Looking back, I would say I felt safe because the majority of my family lived there.

DM: You are a model but you started out writing poetry. In respects to music, how long have you been doing music?

SR: For As long as I can remember. I have copies of my written songs and poems starting from when I was 8, but I didn't start recording until I was 16.
